Quick Start Guide

Follow these steps to start using Forge after downloading the application.

First Launch Setup

For macOS Users

When first launching Forge on macOS, you may encounter security settings. Here's how to resolve this:

  1. Open System Settings on your Mac
  2. Navigate to Privacy & Security
  3. Scroll down to the Security section
  4. Look for the message about Forge being blocked
  5. Click "Open Anyway" to allow Forge to run
  6. Confirm your choice in the popup dialog

This security measure is standard for macOS and helps protect your system. Forge is safe to run and all your data remains local.

Installing OpenSCAD

When you first launch Forge, you'll be prompted to install OpenSCAD. Here's how to do it:

  1. Visit the OpenSCAD downloads page:openscad.org/downloads.html
  2. Select the appropriate version for your operating system:
    • Windows: Download the .exe installer
    • macOS: Download the .dmg file
    • Linux: Use your package manager or download the appropriate package
  3. Run the installer and follow the installation prompts
  4. Return to Forge - it should now detect OpenSCAD automatically
